As the sugar rush from Shadow of the Mad King and Halloween dies down, ArenaNet has already began teasing us with hints about the one-time world event leading up Guild Wars 2′s major November update, which will take place on November 15th. The team published a teaser page with screenshots and some hints as to what the event may consist of.

Here are those hints:

Something stirs in the Sea of Sorrows…

Unravel a mystery of monstrous proportions in The Lost Shores, a massive one-time world event that will change Tyria forever!

Not much to go on yet, eh? We do know a little more than the Sea of Sorrows bit, thanks to an interview conducted by MMORPG.com yesterday, which is available for viewing on TwitchTV. During the interview, we found out that November’s update will be adding a new island map with its own storyline, permanent changes to Tyria with the world event, and a new dungeon to explore that comes complete with new rewards. One cool detail about the dungeon is that it will get more difficult the farther players get. Sounds fun!

MMORPG.com has partnered with the Guild Wars 2 team for an exclusive Live Stream Q&A with Jon Peters at 10:00 a.m. PST (1:00 p.m. EST) about professions and traits in Guild Wars 2. We’ve compiled your questions to ask during the interview.

** UPDATE #2** The interview has been posted to youtube and added to this post.

PVP class balance:

  • They believe utility is spread around evenly to all the classes, and the majority of current balancing is just playing the numbers game. AE’s he expects will be ineffective in pvp vs good players.
  • To counter the healing all classes have, poison is a healing debuff. Through combos every class can get poison attached to their attacks. Necro and Thief have posion as base skills.

MMORPG.com has a preview from this weekend’s press event showing us some WvW content.

Over the course of the demo we found that the PvP lived up to the hype it has been given. The great thing about the system is the ease at which you can transport from place to place. Maybe one night you need a rest from the action and want to explore your player’s personal story? Or perhaps you want to go out and get a new pet for your Ranger? You can be doing these calmly, that is until your guild sounds the horn of battle and off to the front you run trying to take back control of your lost objectives. One great element was that we were playing against some top guilds in Europe. The landscape of the battlefield was constantly changing hands and epic battles were raging all night long. The European guilds ran some great sweeps and took several of the objectives.
