With any new major release, there are always performance tweaks and ways to make your game perform better. GW2 is no stranger and you will want your rig operating at peak performance because you will be battling 100s of people in World vs. World. Bill Freist gives us the inside scoop on driver optimization with Nvidia cards.

At present, Guild Wars 2 has already received a massive amount of optimizations. This means that players who have suffered from poor performance in the past should see an improvement to their frame rate. But there are still discrepancies between individual systems. As we investigate those, it leads us to discover interesting bottlenecks. For example, here’s a chart showing how much of a difference a graphics driver version can make. (This data is aggregated from all players who participated in recent stress tests.)

Check out more over on GW2′s website.

The Mantle of Gallifrey is a guild based on having fun no matter what you want to do. We have a base structure set up already and looking for more people to fill out the ranks and join us in the fun. We’re going to be mass accepting players for a couple weeks into the release and we’ll be looking for specific individuals to perform the remaining officer roles(currently: PVP leader, WvW leader, Website curator).

Some key point’s found directly on our site are :

-We ask that members be mature and at least 16 years of age or older. If you are not over the age of 18 you are not garunteed membership status, when the membership councilman brings up your membership status, council will be reminded of your age and maturity will be a deciding factor.

-We have a diverse group of members, both male and female. The age averages out at about 26 but we have ages from 21 to 30+. “Trolling” will not be permitted in any way, however a good joke is always welcome.

-We have people of all skill level, some have played mmo’s for years and others that have never touched one in their life. Skill can be taught and will never be a deciding factor in membership.

-Players will not be pressured to represent our guild over others. We encourage all of our members to represent our guild when they so desire, but this is not required. You are a welcomed part of our guild regardless of who you choose to represent and when you choose to do so.

-Trial members do not have to fill out an application of any kind. However on our website you will only have access to the general chat forums and in game will be limited to general WvW and unstructured PvP (no tournaments).

If you have any questions about the guild or the application process please don’t hesitate to contact us through the website or the game. Reddit user donoftheslum has put together an amazing compilation of armor and weapon models for each race of all the PVP armor sets that you can find in the lockers. So if you’re trying to finally decide on a race, then this collection is for you.

Due to the request of original poster, we have kept the links to the original galleries intact. Thanks don!

Information

There are four different model types:

  • Asura Male and Female
  • Charr Male and Female
  • Human, Sylvari, Norn Male
  • Human, Sylvari, Norn Female

I chose Charr Male, Asura Female, Human Male (Norn starting area wasn't working) and Human Female. This should cover all the available armor types.

Want to see what Norn Male armor looks like? View Human Male. They are the same. Sylvari Female? Human Female is the same. Hence the * in the title.

Keep reading for all the gallery links!

Good scouting will be critical to success in WvW, or you will always end up being one move behind the enemy. But what do the battle markers mean? How far can you see? Do maps show the same range as sight? Who should scout and where? Take an initial look at these and other questions in this episode of RESULTS.

Have you been grinding away through the Hall of Monuments with GW1 for those unique weapon skins, titles and pets? Well, thanks to Naglifar over at Guru we’ve got some preview shots of the weapons that you can get.

In case you didn’t know, HOM or Hall of Monuments, is a series of achievements or points that you can earn in Guild Wars 1. Most players strove for 30 out 50 points, which netted you the majority of the armor and weapons. This feat alone took quite a lot of playing time. But what else were you going to do while waiting for August 25th?

The Hall of Monuments is an explorable area that commemorates acquisitions and accomplishments of a character and/or an account. Available only to accounts that are linked to Eye of the North, it is the only area in the game that is personalized to the leader of the party. Five distinct monuments allow players to show off certain weapons, all miniatures, most heroes and some pets, various prestige armor, and player titles. The hall also serves to kickoff key quests in Eye of the North and for dialogue and quests related to Guild Wars Beyond.

More importantly for many players, filling one’s Hall of Monuments is the only way to unlock a number of Guild Wars 2 bonus items and titles.

Did you get your bonus items and titles?

As we round the final bend toward Guild Wars 2′s launch, it’s impossible to not notice the rising storm of excitement, anticipation, and– well, there’s no sense in beating around the bush– hype. There, I said it. GW2 is carrying a lot of hype right now. MMO players are eager for something new, something shiny, and most importantly– something different. As most modern MMO fans know, hype can be a risky business, but GW2 has a lot of things going right for it so far. The combination of the game’s dynamic event system, dynamic leveling adjustment system, WvWvW feature, cooperative world system, and non-trinity combat system is a fairly innovative step in the industry, and a large reason for the hype.

Another innovative step is the move away from the classic subscription model. Most MMORPGs these days launch with a subscription model that may or may not prove the test of time, and if the game ends up slipping into a free-to-play model, many players feel frustrated with the model slip no matter their stance. Why? Because the developers will often veil the changes in flowery, positive PR lingo, change the way content patches are added to the game, and in general– change the game dramatically. Gamers prefer their games and development teams at face value– and that’s where Guild Wars 2 comes in.

There are several similar skills in the game that can allow you to move quickly such as leaps and teleports, giving you the chance to get into – and more importantly – out of fights. The skills have different names and looks for each profession but they work pretty much the same. This video explores the Elementalist skills Lightning Flash (teleport) and Ride the Lightning (which is similar to a leap). Can you teleport into enemy keeps? Can you use them while falling? Will they stop fall damage? When and where will they work?

Continue reading to check out the answers to all these questions in Results Episode 4.

How much can an Elementalist heal? How much more effective are they with combination fields and finishers? How much does gear and compassion (water magic trait points) contribute? Is it worth it to sink points into water magic to improve healing?

Check out the answers to all these questions in GW2 Results Episode 3. And check out ‘Hamburger Hill’ near the end to watch 15 vs. 40+ out in the open!

Keep reading to watch the latest episode.

Every aspiring old-west gunfighter dreams of the day when he receives his Colt pistol. Every paladin wishes for his holy avenger. Arthur sought out Excalibur. Just like these heroic figures, every PvP gamer worth his salt seeks out a great gaming mouse.

One mouse that should be considered is Logitech’s new G600. It would be easy to dismiss this mouse as a brazen clone of the Razer Naga, but doing so would be a mistake. There is a new feature that substantially sets the G600 apart from the excellent Naga. More on that later, for now let us look at the G600 for what it is.

Logitech is known for making very well-built, quality products. The G600 does not disappoint. The buttons are very solid, there is a good weight to the mouse, and the mouse has a heft that people with larger hands will appreciate. The mouse glides very smoothly on my Steelseries mousepad. The sidebuttons are angled in such a way that I can tell exactly what button my thumb is on, just by touch.

How do Combo Fields work? When should these particular fields be used in a fight? What happens when you try a finisher in multiple combo fields? Although all of this is interesting, probably my favorite part is the last minute of this video. Listening and watching this fight – 15 vs. 50 – before we push out into the masses for our fourth or fifth time will probably remind you of your own great stories from World vs. World in Guild Wars 2!

Watch the whole video after the break!
